Acceptable Use Policy

Version 2026-09-29

This policy applies to everyone who sends email through the MarbleSend Managed Amazon SES Relay (the "SES Relay"). It is part of our Terms of Service. It exists to keep email trustworthy for recipients and to keep the shared sending service working for every customer.

1. Send only to people who asked

  • Every recipient must have given you permission to receive the kind of email you send. Purchased, rented, scraped or third-party lists are not allowed.
  • Sign-up forms must use double opt-in: a new subscriber becomes active only after confirming by email. Contacts you import must come from people who agreed to hear from you, and you must be able to show when and how they agreed.
  • Do not add someone again after they unsubscribed, complained or bounced permanently.

2. Unsubscribe must always work

Every email sent through the SES Relay carries a working unsubscribe link in its footer and the standard one-click unsubscribe headers (RFC 8058). The relay adds them automatically and they cannot be removed or replaced. You must honour every unsubscribe and never make it hard to opt out.

3. Say who you are

  • Before you can send through the SES Relay you must give your real name (or company name), a physical postal address (a business address or a P.O. box) and a phone number, and keep them accurate.
  • Your name and postal address are printed in the footer of every email you send, together with a line saying why the recipient received it, and a "Sent with MarbleSend" mark. None of these can be removed or altered.
  • Your phone number is not shown to recipients. We keep it private and use it only to contact you about abuse, compliance or legal matters.
  • Subject lines, sender names and headers must not be deceptive about who is sending or what the email is about.

4. Content you may not send

Do not use the SES Relay to send phishing, malware, fraud, illegal goods or services, or content that infringes the rights of others, or to harass anyone. Amazon's AWS Acceptable Use Policy also applies to email sent through Amazon SES.

5. Bounces and complaints

  • Addresses that hard-bounce, and people who mark your email as spam, are suppressed automatically, both at the relay and in your MarbleSend installation. Suppressed recipients are never emailed again through the SES Relay. Only you, after reviewing it, can lift a suppression in your own installation, and the relay may still refuse the address.
  • We monitor bounce and complaint rates for each account. If they are high, we may automatically block your account from sending until the cause is fixed. Keep your lists clean and send only what people expect.

6. Volume and credits

Each email uses one credit from your balance. We may limit how fast or how much an account can send, particularly for new accounts, to protect deliverability for everyone. Growth is welcome; sudden large sends to a new list are a warning sign and may be paused for review.

7. Enforcement

If this policy is broken, or if we or Amazon see signs of abuse, we may limit, suspend or end your access to the SES Relay, immediately and with or without notice, independently of any other account. We may share information about the abuse with Amazon or with authorities where required. Your MarbleSend license and the data on your own server are not deleted by a suspension. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

8. Changes and contact

We may update this policy. The version at the top shows the latest one, and when it changes in a meaningful way your MarbleSend installation will ask you to review and accept it again. To report abuse or ask a question, write to hello@marblesend.com.
